The Addiction Policy Forum partners with organizations and congressional champions to host Congressional Addiction Forums. These events bring together leading advocates, experts, and policymakers to raise awareness and foster new policy solutions. Forums have focused on: the Science of Addiction, Collateral Consequences, Women, Addiction and Criminal Justice, Youth, and Veterans.

#174aDay Campaign

In June 2016 the Addiction Policy Forum launched #129aDay, an awareness and action campaign based on the Center for Disease Control's numbers of 129 lives lost a day due to a drug overdose in 2014. In December 2016, new CDC data showed an increase of daily drug overdose deaths from 129 a day in 2014 to 144 a day in 2015, and now to 174 a day in 2016.

Families Committee

The Addiction Policy Forum Families Committee has over 300 members from all over the United States. Members of the Families Committee work with the Addiction Policy Forum to champion addiction awareness and share resources in their local communities, and meet with their legislators to encourage a legislative response to addiction.

Translation Project

APF’s Translation Project focuses on translating the current research on opioid addiction and treatment into policy and practice in the field so that fewer lives are lost to addiction.

On the Record

In January and February 2016, the Addiction Policy Forum hosted two “On the Record” events in New Hampshire featuring presidential candidates Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ), former Governor Jeb Bush (R-FL), Governor John Kasich (R-OH), businesswoman Carly Fiorina (R) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Presidential candidates were asked to go on the record with how they would respond to addiction if elected President.
