Become a Certified enCompass and Responding to Addiction Instructor

The Addiction Policy Forum is excited to announce an upcoming Virtual enCompass Instructor Training on Tuesday, December 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.

The enCompass program is a comprehensive, evidence-informed training designed to equip family members, caregivers, and community members with the knowledge and skills to support individuals experiencing substance use disorders (SUDs).

Through this virtual instructor training, participants will gain the tools, resources, and knowledge needed to deliver enCompass trainings in their own communities, helping families better understand addiction, reduce stigma, and connect their loved ones with appropriate support and treatment resources.

About enCompass

enCompass: A Comprehensive Training on Navigating Addiction is an eight-hour training program developed by the Addiction Policy Forum to help families and communities understand substance use disorders and respond effectively when someone they care about is struggling with substance use. The program provides science-based education and practical strategies to help participants better understand addiction as a chronic, treatable health condition while building the skills needed to support individuals and families.

Two Trainings, One Instructor Certification Opportunity

By completing the enCompass instructor training, participants will be certified to deliver two Addiction Policy Forum Anti-Stigma training programs, expanding their ability to reach families, professionals, and community members.

  • enCompass: A Comprehensive Training on Navigating Addiction: An eight-hour training designed to equip families, caregivers, and community members with the knowledge, skills, and resources to understand addiction and support loved ones impacted by substance use disorders.

  • Responding to Addiction: A two- to three-hour, evidence-based training designed to increase knowledge about substance use disorders, reduce addiction-related stigma, and equip participants with practical strategies to respond to addiction in their communities.

Together, these programs provide instructors with flexible educational opportunities to address the needs of different audiences, strengthen community understanding of addiction, expand access to evidence-based information and resources, and decrease stigma.
