You are invited to attend Responding to Addiction, an in-person training designed to deepen understanding of addiction and build practical skills to support individuals and families. The training will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Springfield Assembly of God on Canton Road in Akron, Ohio.
Created by the Addiction Policy Forum, Responding to Addiction is a comprehensive training that equips participants with evidence-based knowledge and real-world strategies to respond effectively when someone is struggling with substance use. The training is offered in collaboration with HOPE United and Tyler’s Redemption Place.
Like CPR, the Responding to Addiction program is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to recognize a problem, respond appropriately, and connect individuals to effective care. The training also helps participants navigate the treatment and recovery resources available in their own community.
Participants will learn:
The science of addiction
The signs and symptoms of addiction
Evidence-based treatment options
Medications used to treat addiction
Effective engagement strategies
All participants will receive a certificate of completion and a participant manual upon completion of the training.
Responding to Addiction is part of Addiction Policy Forum’s ongoing effort to expand prevention, reduce stigma, and increase the use of evidence-based practices that save lives and strengthen communities.
