Essex County District Attorney Joins Nonprofit Board to Combat Addiction Nationwide
Washington, DC -- Addiction Policy Forum, a national addiction nonprofit leading the fight against addiction, announced Essex County District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett will be the new Chairman for its Board of Directors.
“District Attorney Blodgett has been a leader in his community to help patients and families impacted by addiction,” says Jessica Hulsey Nickel, Founder and CEO of Addiction Policy Forum. “We are honored that someone of District Attorney Blodgett’s high esteem will be joining our Board of Directors as Chairman.”
The Addiction Policy Forum is a national nonprofit dedicated to eliminating addiction as a major health problem, with its national headquarters located in Washington, DC. Last month the Addiction Policy Forum released its Massachusetts Innovations to Address the Opioid Epidemic report, which highlights seven innovative programs in the state that help patients and families impacted by addiction, two of which were instituted by DA Blodgett.
“As District Attorney, I have seen how devastating addiction can be – for the families and children of those suffering from addiction to the communities in which they live,” said District Attorney Blodgett. “By joining the Addiction Policy Forum’s Board of Directors as Chairman, I hope to bring insight and improve the way we address addiction, not only in Massachusetts but nationally as well.”
The Addiction Policy Forum’s Addiction Resource Center also offers a free, 24/7 helpline, staffed by trained counselors, available to all Massachusetts residents. The helpline is available at 1-833-301-HELP. To learn more, visit www.addictionpolicy.org.
