The 2025 Addiction Policy Forum Pillar of Excellence Award is awarded to Deltrin Kimbro

It is our honor to present Deltrin Kimbro with a Pillar of Excellence Award for his outstanding leadership in improving his community’s response to individuals with substance use disorders and communities in need.

Deltrin Kimbro is a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter Supervisor and Emergency Projects Coordinator for Let’s Get Real, an Ohio-based organization dedicated to educating and supporting individuals on their journey from addiction to recovery. As a Peer Recovery Supporter, Deltrin is tasked with guiding an individual in recovery to identify their personal assets and obstacles in each of these areas and articulating their personal goals in these areas. Deltrin also works alongside people in recovery to identify resources, teach new skills, encourage them to achieve their goals, and monitor their progress. In addition to his work with Let’s Get Real, he leads his own nonprofit, Living Water Support and Recovery Group.

Deltrin Kimbro has also been a Certified Anti-Stigma Instructor through the Addiction Policy Forum since July 2023. As a Certified Anti-Stigma Instructor, he has brought vital trainings, like enCompass and Responding to Addiction, to his community to help increase addiction knowledge and decrease stigma surrounding addiction. As a person in long-term recovery, Deltrin weaves in his personal and professional perspective and experiences to educate others on substance use disorder and bring the information to a relatable context. His dedication and willingness to share his own experiences have been instrumental in helping the Addiction Policy Forum implement, enhance, and expand the reach of its Anti-Stigma Training Programs.

Reflecting on his work, Deltrin shares, “I didn’t choose this work, it chose me. I believe that the people who have lost the most, have the most to give. I hold out hope to those we serve, partner with them to envision and achieve a meaningful and purposeful life.”

Deltrin is committed to helping others on their chosen path of recovery. Through his work, he contributes to several community initiatives, including the LGR, Hospital Warm Handoff Project (WHO), Police Assisted Project (PAP), Pre & Post Release Programs in Lorain County, and Specialty Dockets Projects.
