On Tuesday, February 6th, the Addiction Policy Forum Ohio State Chapter gathered at Brightview Health for a walkthrough of the Addiction Resource Center (ARC) portal. Mark O’Brien, VP of State and Local Affairs at APF, introduced the event and the ARC portal, which aims to connect concerned individuals and family members to local resources.
Amy Parker, Peer Counselor at Brightview Health and a woman in recovery, told her story and described how online resources, such as the ARC portal, would have been extremely beneficial during her time of need. Amy is highlighted as a Story of Hope on the ARC portal to encourage those that recovery is possible.
Danielle Tarino, VP of Health Information Technology, and Lisbet Portman, Director of Special Projects, conducted a walkthrough of the ARC portal showing the main features - such as taking a self-assessment, creating an action plan, guidance for what to do in a crisis, and finding local resources. Attendees engaged in a Q&A, offered suggestions, and highlighted their favorite features of the ARC portal over coffee, cookies, and desserts.
