Proposed CARA Funding Up $27 Million for FY18

There has been much action this week and last on the appropriations front with Labor Health and Human Services (LHHS) and Commerce Justice Science (CJS) bills being marked up. Additionally, the Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) legislation was also marked up in the house.

First Responder Training, Pregnant and Postpartum Women, Targeted Capacity Expansion for Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Building Communities of Recovery remain level funded, but COAP (the DOJ CARA Program) was plussed up to $30 million, a $17 million dollar increase. The Veterans Administration Initiatives and Programs also saw funding increase from FY17 levels of $5.82 million to a new total of $55.82 million.

Total CARA funding stands at $179.75 million as of today, vs. $153 million in FY17.
