Over 155 Organizations Sign Letter in Support of the House’s Work to Address the Drug Crisis

In support of the House of Representatives' efforts to address the nation’s drug crisis, over 155 organization signed a letter to show appreciation for the bipartisan work to help solve this crisis.

Nearly half of the 25 bills that passed in the House yesterday were highlighted in the letter, including:

  • H.R. 5176, Preventing Overdoses While in Emergency Rooms (POWER) Act of 2018

  • H.R. 5327, Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Centers (CORC) Act of 2018

  • H.R. 5261, Training, Education, and Community Help (TEACH) to Combat Addiction Act of 2018

  • H.R. 5695, Emmett’s Law (as an amendment to H.R. 5009)

  • H.R. 5102, Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Act of 2018

  • H.R. 5041, Safe Disposal of Unused Medication Act

  • H.R. 4684, Ensuring Access to Quality Sober Living Act of 2018

  • H.R. 5587, Peer Support Communities of Recovery Act

  • H.R. 449, Synthetic Drug Awareness Act

  • H.R. 4275, Empowering Pharmacists in the Fight Against Opioid Abuse Act

  • H.R. 5197, Alternatives to Opioids (ALTO) in the Emergency Department Act

  • H.R. 5483, Special Registration for Telemedicine Clarification Act of 2018

We are grateful the House understands the urgency of this crisis and has taken a bipartisan approach to combat this disease. These bills comprehensively address addiction and assist families in crisis. With the passage of these 25 bills in the House, we are one step closer to a world where fewer lives are lost and impacted by substance use disorder.
