What Can You Do?

Call Your Senators and Law Enforcement Agencies
Calling your senators and law enforcement agentcies is a great way to have your voice be heard. Call 826-426-2631 or your respective district offices, especially if you are in the district of these key senators:
  • Susan Collins of Maine
  • Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia
  • Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
  • Robert Portman of Ohio
  • Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
  • Dean Heller of Nevada
  • Jeff Flake of Arizona
  • Bob Corker of Tennessee
  • Jerry Moran of Kansas
  • Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
  • Lamar Alexander of Tennessee
Community Catalyst wrote great sample scripts you can use when calling, and we encourage you to use them if you are unsure of what to say!

Sample Call Script: “Hi my name is [name] and I am from [town, state]. I’m calling to ask Senator [x] to reject any proposal to repeal the ACA.  Repealing the ACA would strip health coverage from millions of Americans and keep people from accessing life-saving services and treatment for alcohol or drug addiction. Please ask Senator [x] to vote no on any bill to repeal the ACA. Thank you for your time.”
Sample Law Enforcement Call Script: “My name is Officer/Chief [name] and I am a member of the [city, state] Police Department. The overdose crisis has hit our community hard and we realize we cannot arrest our way out of it. We have found that treatment works and benefits not only the person seeking services but the whole community. This is a bipartisan issue and I urge Senator [x] to take into account how repealing the ACA will impact the rising number of overdose deaths. I am asking Senator [x] to stand with your constituents whose lives will be put in danger and reject any proposal to repeal the ACA.
