General McCaffrey

In light of the report released Friday, May 5, 2017, that the Office of Management and Budget is considering massive cuts to Office of National Drug Control Policy, General Barry McCaffrey, Chair, National Advisory Board, Addiction Policy Forum, released the following statement:
"As the former Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, I know full well the importance of this agency and the good it can do to implement sound policy from the Office of the President. That is why I read with such dismay the reckless and dangerous cuts being proposed by the President. Dismantling ONDCP and eliminating key grants for prevention and law enforcement will do irreparable damage to our response to the opioid epidemic nationwide. The Administration should immediately reinstate this funding in its budget and move toward creating a comprehensive approach to address addiction."
