Dr. Christian Conte Joins Addiction Policy Forum Advisory Board

Washington, DC—Today Dr. Christian Conte, one of the country’s top mental health specialists in the field of anger and emotional management, joins the Addiction Policy Forum Advisory Board. In joining the Advisory Board, Dr. Conte also brings his extensive knowledge on working with incarcerated populations, many of whom struggle with substance use.

"I am beyond honored to join the Addiction Policy Forum Advisory Board,” says Dr. Christian Conte. “The ripple effect of addiction goes so much farther than any of us can fully realize, and now, more than ever, we need understanding and compassion to be the guiding forces moving us forward."

Additionally, Dr. Conte and the Addiction Policy Forum are collaborating on a new web series, Leading with Compassion with Dr. Christian Conte. This web series, launching today, will look at the disease of addiction from new angles, aiming to eliminate stigma surrounding the disease. The first episode, ‘Hunger and Addiction,’ examines similarities between the feeling of hunger and addiction.

“To better help individuals, families and communities affected by addiction, we must be compassionate. Dr. Conte’s expertise is a welcome addition to the Addiction Policy Forum,” says Jessica Hulsey Nickel, President and CEO of the Addiction Policy Forum. “This web series will shine a positive light on how we can improve our response to the disease.”
