Today, the Addiction Policy Forum reveals a special Pride Month logo in celebration of the LGBTQ community and as part of national Pride Month festivities. The new logo, which prominently features the signature LGBTQ rainbow colors, will appear on the organization’s social media and materials throughout the month of June, showing support for the LGBTQ community, especially those in recovery from or currently struggling with substance use disorders.

“June is a month when we publicly demonstrate our love and support for our friends, neighbors and loved ones in the LGBTQ community,” said Jessica Hulsey Nickel, founder of the Addiction Policy Forum. “And for those in the community in need of help, we are committed to making more treatment and recovery services geared toward our LGBTQ community available and accessible.”

If you or a loved one are looking for LGBTQ friendly addiction resources in your area, please visit the Addiction Resource Center or call us at 833-301-HELP or the Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386. You are not alone.

Jessica began working in prevention at 15 years old through an anti-drug coalition in southern California. The next chapters included an appointment by President Bill Clinton to serve on the Drug-Free Communities Commission, serving as a legislative aid in the U.S. House of Representatives, and work to pass and fund the Second Chance Act to help individuals returning home from prison and jail. In 2015, Jessica founded the Addiction Policy Forum to help families and patients struggling with the disease of addiction. Frustrated by the lack of progress in improving outcomes for those individuals and families struggling, she started the nonprofit with $13,000 from her own savings account and long hours at the dining room table.
