Addiction Policy Forum Launches Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Response Blueprint for Maryland
Blueprint includes suggestions that support a comprehensive response to SUD throughout the state
BALTIMORE, Md. — The Addiction Policy Forum, a leading addiction nonprofit, is releasing today its Blueprint for Maryland: Implementing a Comprehensive Response to Addiction.
The Blueprint provides recommendations to support a comprehensive response to substance use disorders (SUD) throughout the state. Addiction Policy Forum’s blueprints identify priority areas for program implementation or public policy changes in specific areas of focus such as prevention, treatment, public health, child welfare, recovery support, and criminal justice response. Maryland is the third state to receive a response blueprint from the Addiction Policy Forum.
“Addiction Policy Forum is dedicated to ensuring that help is available for the millions of patients and families struggling with addiction,” says Addiction Policy Forum president Jessica Hulsey Nickel. “In addition to the launch of our ARC patient portal in Maryland, the Blueprint is one way we are addressing the addiction crisis in Maryland.”
Addiction Policy Forum developed the recommendations in this report with input from dozens of addiction policy leaders in the state, including:
Maryland Opioid Operational Command Center
Delphi Maryland House of Detox
Institute for Behavior Resources, Inc.
Behavioral Health System Baltimore
Maryland Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence
Faces and Voices of Recovery
“Maryland, like the rest of the country, has been greatly impacted by the heroin and opioid epidemic,” said Clay Stamp, executive director, Maryland Opioid Operational Command Center. “We welcome opportunities to bring together leaders, practitioners, and our state's communities to develop recommendations for building on the work that already has been done.”
The Addiction Policy Forum, which has a national office in Washington, D.C., has previously developed blueprints for Minnesota and Pickaway County, Ohio.
